The Abu Dhabi-based healthcare company G42 announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Israeli company, NanoScent, which specializes in odor-reading technologies, to explore cooperation in developing, manufacturing and distributing a Scent Check odor scanner Israeli device to detect corona, in order to discover suspected cases of COVID-19 virus using a sample.

It explained that the first shipment of devices is on its way to the UAE and that it will arrive “later on Wednesday,” according to the same source.

The Israeli company and its Emirati counterpart signed the contract yesterday, Wednesday, through the “Zoom” video chat program, while the Hebrew channel revealed that the cooperation between the two parties began several months before the normalization agreement was announced.

In this context, the executive director of the Israeli company, Orin Gabrieli, said: “Abu Dhabi has been in contact with us for several months to present an Israeli solution to treat Corona.”

For its part, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) stated that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with the Israeli company, which it described as a specialist in smell reading techniques, came to explore aspects of cooperation in developing, manufacturing and distributing a smell testing device.

Innovative solutions to detect the COVID-19

It indicated that the device represents “an innovative solution capable of detecting suspected cases of (COVID-19) using a sample of exhaled air.”

In a related context, the Israeli Ministry of Health has not yet used the device, whose results reach 80%, to detect corona in its airports, according to the Hebrew Channel.

Two days ago, the Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Center announced that it had signed a research memorandum of understanding with the Israeli company “Bluestim” for research, for cooperation “in the field of research and development related to regenerative medicine services and products, including those that can be used in combating the Corona pandemic.”

Before that, the Emirati “APEX” company announced the signing of a strategic trade agreement with the Israeli Terra group, with the aim of cooperating in the field of research and studies on the emerging coronavirus.
