UAE aid Dh367 million to Yemen in 2019

The UAE will contribute Dh367 million in aid to Yemen this year.

Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Co-operation, said the funding would help crucial humanitarian work to continue in the country.

The pledge, given to the UN Humanitarian Response Plan in Yemen 2019, brings the total amount of aid contributed by the UAE to Dh22 billion.

Mark Lowcock, undersecretary-general at the UN Office for the co-ordination of humanitarian affairs, signed the agreement with Ms Al Hashimy this week.

Mr Lowcock praised the UAE’s support for the plan, saying the contribution would provide a lifeline for millions of Yemenis.
