UAE Consulate warns Emirati citizens in Florida due to Hurricane Dorian
United Arab Consulate General in New York has made an emergency call to the Emirati citizens who are currently in Florida due to Hurricane Dorian.
UAE consulate tweeted: “Attn #UAE citizens currently in #Florida: We are working to evacuate all UAE citizens ahead of Hurricane Dorian. If you have not received a call from UAE officials, please call the UAE Consulate General in New York (646) 630-2575 or the UAE Embassy at (202) 431-5530 immediately”.
It also announced earlier the evacuation of its citizens living in the US state of Florida due to the hurricane that is approaching the region.
The authorities said that they have advised the citizens to prepare for the evacuation.
Hurricane Dorian has gained speed as an “extremely dangerous” Category 4 storm, bearing down on the northwestern Bahamas early Saturday en route to Florida’s east coast. Forecasters say Dorian, which had top sustained winds of 140 mph (225 kph) Friday night, will approach the Florida peninsula late Monday or early Tuesday.
Millions of people in Florida, along with the state’s Walt Disney World and President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, are at the point of the hurricane.
However, the National Hurricane Center in Miami cautioned that its meteorologists remain uncertain whether Dorian would make a devastating direct strike on the state’s east coast or inflict a glancing blow. Some of the reliable computer models predicted a late turn northward that would have Dorian hug the Florida coast.
