UAE sets procedures for the return of residents abroad
The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship in the UAE has set the procedures for the second phase of the return of residents abroad, as of Wednesday 12/8/2020, in implementation of the directives of the wise leadership.
According to what was published by the authority’s website, the first steps are to update the data that includes (ID number – passport – nationality) by entering the website uaeentry.ica.gov.ae.

The procedures for the return of residents abroad trip are to start with updating the data on the website, and then it is mandatory to conduct a pre-laboratory examination for the COVID-19 virus for the residents abroad by accredited laboratories in the countries, noting the requirement to obtain a negative test result for a period not exceeding 96 hours before take-off, and after This is to book a ticket with the necessity to present the virus-free certificate to the air carriers.

The authority confirmed that all precautionary and preventive measures will be applied to all residents abroad upon their arrival to the UAE in accordance with the approved protocols, including conducting a laboratory examination for the (COVID-19) virus, and adhering to the approved quarantine according to the established procedures, in addition to downloading the Al-Hosn application, in order to ensure their health and safety.

Airlines in the Emirates expected that the new decision, which allows residents to obtain prior approval to return to the country automatically, without the need to submit a request, will increase the demand for air travel for arrivals in the country.

Etihad Airways said in a statement that the National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority and the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship have approved the second phase of the residents abroad Return Program with the provision of a pre-approval service so that residents of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi can return to the country in an easy way without the need to wait for approvals while they are abroad.
The company added that this step carries good news for Etihad Airways guests residing inside and outside the country, especially as it coincides with the return of schools and universities, various commercial activities, and social and service facilities in Abu Dhabi.
It indicated that UAE residents abroad are now able to return to Abu Dhabi easily without the need to register and wait for the approval of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, and instead of that, they can perform the immediate pre-approval process before the process of booking their tickets.
“Air Arabia” explained that the new decision contributes significantly to revitalizing travel to the country, especially with the return of the school year and economic movement in the country.
Flydubai confirmed that it has witnessed strong demand for travel since the resumption of passenger flights on July 7, indicating that it is looking to add new destinations in the coming weeks, and it is expected that its network of flights will increase to more than 60 destinations in the coming months.
